Matt Stearns – Matthew Stearns Photography

Matt Stearns of Matthew Stearns Photography is a freelance photographer and writer based in the Southern White Mountains of New Hampshire.

Matt’s work is focused on expressing the beauty of New Hampshire’s high peaks and surrounding waters. He spends countless days and nights within New Hampshire’s vast system of mountains, hiking extensively in search of powerful photographic scenes, and adventure along the way.

Matt is an experienced hiker with great instincts. He never takes lightly the perils that are part and parcel of the New Hampshire wilderness. Matt endures arduous conditions in order to indulge in the delight of backcountry exploration, and to create his own brand of outdoor art. He is also a trained graduate of the SOLO Wilderness First Aid program and is certified in Heartsaver CPR.

Matt licenses photographs from his collection for rights-managed commercial use. His work is also available for sale on a variety of mediums including acid-free paper, thin wrap, and canvas. Showing his versatility as a photographer, Matt occasionally works on other projects such as commercial photography, creative portraiture, and even the occasional wedding. Matt is a juried member of the New England Photography Guild, a writer for several online blogs, and a contributing photographer/writer for New Hampshire’s Best Read Guide.

Matt’s hiking accomplishments include the 48 four thousand footers (2007), a solo one day Pemi Loop (8/14/2010, 15 hours, clockwise), countless on-foot ascents of Mount Washington and a NH AT Section Hike 2006 (8 days, Northbound). Matt his also working to complete the NH Red Lines.
